Hindley rail bridge.

Started by: gaffer (7968)

Buckingham Group the main contractor for the electrification of the railway through Hindley has ceased trading. Losses on football stadiums appears to be the problem.

Gaffer ,
Where does that leave the bridge repairs at Hindley then ? Also are they the same people who have dealings with Kilhey Court???? G.B.

2024? It is supposed to be opening in a couple of weeks on the 1st Sept 2023.
Not that I am complaining as it is so peaceful.

That is on google maps with the traffic layer switched on, but I suppose it could be a mistake, and it will be open by the 1st of September

On the other hand, maybe the suppliers are going to repossess their new bridge and leave a big gap on Ladies Lane

Correct, but the work on the electrification may also involve plant supplied by one of their sub contractors like Balfour Beatty, Colas, Volker Rail etc.

They are bringing in Murphy to finish the job LINK

How do you confuse an Irishmon ?

Place two shovels against a wall and tell him to take his pick

Nothing wrong with Murphys, who did a superb job installing gas at my property while my next door neighbour had it done by British Gas who made a right mess. I even had to fill in a hole with concrete for him which they had left and never came back to do despite being requested numerous times.

Perhaps if Murphy's had been given the bridge job, it would have been completed by now!

It's hardly the Ribblehead Viaduct, is it!

The bridge is showing on Google Maps has being open with delays, which looks to be probably temporary traffic lights.
